This item is a vintage shell petrol can that has been revived and repurposed into a unique nixie clock. We believe that old-style items still have a lot to offer, and each handcrafted piece I create is unique and special in its own way.

The 'RS-70 Cold War Geiger counter clock'
This is an original Bakelite 1970's Geiger counter - as used by the polish army, that has been professionally upcycled into a great little Nixie Clock. Originally these were worn around the neck and would beep loudly if the wearer had entered an area with a higher than background radiation count.
The counters are made from Bakelite, and from a distance look like they could be wood! There is a variation in the colours from dark mahogany to a light brown, I guess it depends on the original mix when they where initially moulded into shape. Each counter has had the internal components removed, then the casing has been professionally CNC machined to accommodate the Nixie clock. All the original switches have been left as they were, and a small control panel has been added to the rear to allow you to set the clock. Each one is then individually signed and numbered. The clock is very comprehensive and feature packed, you can program the backlight any colour you want or even have individual colours for each tube. It will also display the date and has a dedicated clock chip accurate to +/-1 minute per year. Super simple to set, one button does the hours and the other sets the minutes.
